Frank Lampard: I can play at top level for a good few more years
Frank Lampard is keen to end his career at Chelsea and feels he has "a good few more years" left at the top level
Frank Lampard is hoping to end his career at Chelsea and believes he has a “good few more years” of top-flight football left in him.
The 34-year-old midfielder is in the final year of his Blues contract, with talks over a new deal still yet to get under way.
The England midfielder fell down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge during Andre Villas-Boas’s doomed reign in west London, but Lampard was restored to a first-team regular when Roberto Di Matteo took over in March.
“I would like to end my career there,” said Lampard, who helped Chelsea win their first-ever Champions League crown last term.
“I feel I can play at the top level for a good few more years, but it’s whether the club feels the same.
“We spoke once last season and it was a case of coming back and it hasn’t come back from their end. At the minute I’m just playing. I’d like to sit down and speak with them.
“I’d love to carry on but it’s a club decision to come and sit down with me.”
