Chelsea reached their first Europa League final courtesy of a 3-1 second-leg victory over Basel at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night.

Mohamed Salah’s opener gave the visitors faint hope of a comeback after last week’s 2-1 first-leg loss, but second-half goals from Fernando Torres, Victor Moses and David Luiz wrapped up a 5-2 aggregate win.

Here is a selection of the best tweets from the professionals, in chronological order, describing the action at Stamford Bridge.

Newcastle United defender Danny Simpson (‏@dannysimpson) wants to see Frank Lampard breaking Bobby Tambling’s record: “Just watching the Chelsea game. Really hope Frank Lampard scores and gets the record he deserves it for a midfield player.”

Former Spurs chairman Lord Sugar ‏(@Lord_Sugar) isn’t watching his side’s top-four rivals: “What’s the Chelsea score?”

Doncaster striker David Cotterill ‏(@cotterill_david) adds to the praise: “David Luiz what a finish!”

Olympic boxer Anthony Ogogo ‏(@AnthonyOgogo) isn’t a fan of Luiz’s hair but loves his finishing: “Jesus, he’s got the worst hair do in football but boy can he hit them. Take a bow Side Show Bob.”

QPR striker Jay Bothroyd ‏(@jaybothroyd) is impressed by Luiz and Eden Hazard: “Wow!!! What a goal that was!! I think hazard has the best change of pace in the league?”

Former Middlesbrough midfielder Gaizka Mendieta (‏@GaizkaMendieta6) is pleased for his fellow Spaniard: “Benfica v @chelseafc will play the @EuropaLeague Final!! May 15th Amsterdam Arena. Benitez takes the Blues to another Final! Congrats!!”
