Gary Neville singles out Philippe Coutinho for special praise after his sparkling display in Liverpool's win over Everton
Gary Neville singled out Philippe Coutinho for special praise after his sparkling display in Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Everton in Saturday’s Merseyside derby showdown.
The Brazilian was in fine form for the Reds as he scored one goal and set up another to inspire Jurgen Klopp’s men to victory at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
Sadio Mane and Divock Origi scored Liverpool’s other goals as the Reds took another step towards their target of securing a top-four finish this season.
Former Manchester United defender Neville was very impressed by what he saw from Coutinho and explained why he picked him as man of the match.
Speaking after the game on Sky Sports, Neville said: “Coutinho was the man of the match. He had the biggest impact. He assisted a goal, scored a goal, and really caused Everton all sorts of problems.
“He’s been criticised this season but it’s a good day for him to come back into form. Coutinho needs to be in form if Sadio Mane is not going to be there (due to injury).”
