‘Genius Louis van Gaal will bring success back to Man United’

Ronald de Boer is backing Louis van Gaal to make an instant impact when he takes over at Manchester United next season.
The Netherlands head coach, who is due to take over at Old Trafford after the World Cup, substituted goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen for Tim Krul in extra-time against Costa Rica, a decision that paid off after the shot-stopper saved two penalties in the shootout to clinch victory.

And De Boer is certain that the 62-year-old manager will be a big hit at the Red Devils after he guided Holland to the World Cup semi-finals.
“It [the substitution] was a genius move,” De Boer told talkSPORT.
“Van Gaal is the best coach I ever worked with. He is the best chance for a team to have success.
“Nobody really believed in this [Netherlands] team, but I said, ‘if one man can change this team, it is Louis van Gaal’. It is the same for Manchester United.
“Sometimes you need a bit of luck, of course, like we have had in this tournament and it will be the same at Manchester United.
“In the long term you will have success with him, but do you have the patience? He could win the Premier League title, or maybe the Champions League, but it is not really realistic, of course.”
