Harry Redknapp wants Queens Park Rangers to draw inspiration from Barcelona as the Hoops look to avoid Premier League relegation.

The Hoops travel to west London neighbours Fulham on Monday night, needing three points to keep their slim hopes of survival alive.

Bottom-of-the-table QPR saw their winning run come to an abrupt stop with a 3-2 loss to Aston Villa on their last league outing.

Asked whether he would opt to pick the more tenacious members of his squad ahead of flair players for the derby, the QPR boss said the key to beating the drop is working hard.

“You have to work – the best teams work the hardest,” said Redknapp.

“It’s a fallacy – people think the best teams just play football. The best team in the world is Barcelona and they are hardest-working team.

“They work harder than anyone else without the ball, they press all over the pitch, and they work harder than anyone else when they’ve got the ball, trying to make angles – there’s five or six options off the ball.

“We’ve got to work hard too. It’s not a case of picking scrappers – whoever I pick – whether they’re skillful or not, they’ve all got to work.

“If one or two don’t work, it affects the whole team.”

Redknapp decided to omit Adel Taarabt for QPR’s successive victories over Southampton and Sunderland before the Moroccan came on as a second-half substitute in their loss at Villa Park.

Despite dropping the former Tottenham playmaker, Redknapp is adamant magician Taarabt will have a role to play in QPR’s run-in.

“I left Adel out for Southampton and Sunderland, he came on at Villa and was fantastic. He looked sharp and did very well,” he added.

“He’s still in the frame. He’s a real talent with great ability. Like everybody, he’s got to work hard for the game.”
