QPR manager Harry Redknapp says the Hoops must stay positive in fight for relegation ahead of Saturday's Stoke City clash
Harry Redknapp says Queens Park Rangers must keep faith that they can avoid relegation and stay in the Premier League despite their slim hopes of survival.
The Hoops are eight points from safety with five games remaining and need to beat a struggling Stoke City side at Loftus Road on Saturday.
Many have already written off QPR’s chances of beating the drop this season, but the 66-year-old reckons there is still a slim chance the west London side can finish outside the bottom three.
“We’re still not down. We’ve still got five games to go,” Redknapp told a news conference at QPR’s Harlington training ground on Friday.
“We all know it’s a tall order but we will keep going. We’ll keep trying and keep believing. There’s no way we’re giving up on this season yet.”
Redknapp also admitted the Hoops have struggled throughout the season, with new players unable to settle and the QPR squad blighted with injury.
And the former Spurs manager recognised that the club would have to regroup over the summer months if relegation occurs ahead of a season in the Championship.
“The club has struggled to get the right balance over the course of the season,” he added.
“It’s been a big problem for me and Mark before me.
“If relegation happens, we’ve got to re-group and come back stronger, but we’re not giving up yet, we’ve still got a chance.”
