Harry Redknapp is backing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Ryan Mason to develop into a top player

Harry Redknapp believes Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Ryan Mason can develop into a top player.
The 23-year-old star played 71 minutes of the League Cup final on Sunday as Tottenham lost 2-0 to Premier League leaders Chelsea at Wembley.

Mason has earned a regular place in Mauricio Pochettino’s side this season, and the 23-year-old has scored one goal and has made two assists in 1,433 minutes of first-team football this season.
Redknapp worked with the England Under-20 international during his three-and-a-half year reign at White Hart Lane, and the former Tottenham boss highlighted Mason’s progression at the north London club this term.
“Mason is developing now. We always felt Mason was going to be a good player. He could just never get fit,” Redknapp told talkSPORT.
“Wherever we loaned him out, he’d go and play and break down [at Yeovil or Doncaster Rovers]. He couldn’t get a run of games going.
“He looks a different player now. He looks stronger and much more aggressive. He has filled out and he looks like he will be a top player.”
Mason, who has spent loan spells at Yeovil Town, Doncaster Rovers, Millwall and Lorient, signed a new five-and-a-half year deal with his boyhood club in January.
The Spurs midfielder scored his first goal for Tottenham as he made his first appearance of the season in a 3-1 win against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup.
