Henrikh Mkhitaryan makes honest admission to Man United fans
Henrikh Mkhitaryan admits that he struggled to cope with the demands of the Premier League following his move to Manchester United
Henrikh Mkhitaryan has admitted that he struggled to cope with the pace of the Premier League following his arrival at Manchester United last summer.
The Armenia international signed for the Red Devils from Borussia Dortmund last summer but struggled to make much of an impact in the opening stages of the campaign.
However, the 28-year-old’s performances improved in the second half of the season as he became more of a regular fixture in Jose Mourinho’s first team.
Mkhitaryan scored Manchester United’s second goal as they beat Ajax 2-0 in the Europa League final last week as the Red Devils secured a route into next season’s Champions League.
And the playmaker has made an honest admission about how he struggled to adapt to the rigours of the Premier League following his move last summer.
Mkhitaryan is quoted as saying by Metro: “I had a bit of difficulties at the beginning of the season but that’s part of football I was ready for that mentally and physically and I could survive that part and when I got my second chance I just seized the day.
“Watching on the TV is a bit different because you don’t see the pace, the quickness of the game.
“When you’re in the game you don’t have too much time to think. But game by game I was trying to feel it and to adapt myself to the Premier League. It wasn’t easy but I think I did it well.”
Manchester United will go straight into the group stage of next season’s Champions League after the Europa League win.
