Paul Merson states his prediction for Huddersfield v Liverpool FC
The Arsenal legend is backing Liverpool FC to beat Huddersfield comfortably at John Smith Stadium on Tuesday night
Paul Merson is backing Liverpool FC to ease to a comfortable win against Huddersfield Town on Tuesday night.
The Reds will have a point to prove at the promoted side following a surprise 3-2 loss to West Bromwich Albion in the FA Cup fourth round at Anfield last weekend.
Liverpool FC have lost their last two games in all competitions following a 1-0 defeat at the Premier League’s basement club Swansea City last week.
Jurgen Klopp’s side became the first Premier League team to beat Manchester City earlier this month following a 4-3 victory over the runaway leaders.
However, the mood has quickly changed in the Reds camp following their disappointing losses to Swansea and West Brom.
Former Arsenal midfielder Merson is backing Liverpool FC to ease to a resounding win against Huddersfield on Tuesday night.
“Huddersfield try and play out from the back a bit too much for me if I’m being honest,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“It’s a great philosophy, don’t get me wrong, but there’s a line and I think they overplay a bit too much.
“I know they beat Manchester United at home but when they’ve played against the other big boys, they’ve been blown away. West Ham also blew them away a couple of weeks ago so I think Liverpool, on the big pitch at the John Smith’s Stadium, will just have too much for them.
“Huddersfield won’t play like Swansea did last week and Jurgen Klopp’s side will exploit that.”
Liverpool FC are in fourth place in the Premier League table but a mere two points ahead of Tottenham Hotspur.
However, Spurs will host Manchester United in their next Premier League fixture at Wembley on Wednesday night.
Liverpool FC can move five points clear of Tottenham if the Reds manage to beat Huddersfield ahead of the Wembley clash 24 hours later.
