Michael Owen states his prediction for Huddersfield v Liverpool FC
The Liverpool FC legend is tipping Jurgen Klopp's side to beat Huddersfield on Saturday evening
Michael Owen is confident that Liverpool FC will ease to a straightforward victory over Huddersfield Town at John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday evening.
The Merseyside outfit will return to Premier League action this weekend following successive stalemates with title rivals Chelsea FC and Manchester City.
Daniel Sturridge netted a equaliser with two minutes to spare at Stamford Bridge to secure a point in west London before Riyad Mahrez missed a late penalty to ensure Liverpool FC survived a late scare to finish with a goalless draw.
Liverpool FC are level on points with Chelsea FC and Manchester City thanks to their impressive six-game victory to make their best-ever start to the Premier League season.
Jurgen Klopp does have some fitness concerns ahead of their Premier League clash this weekend after key players such as Mohamed Salah, Naby Keita, Sadio Mane and Virgil van Dijk picked up knocks.
However, former Liverpool FC striker Owen is backing the Reds to secure three points against Huddersfield at John Smith Stadium on Saturday evening despite the Reds’ growing injury problems.
“Liverpool have concerns over the fitness of Virgil van Dijk and Mo Salah ahead of their trip to West Yorkshire, but I expect Jurgen Klopp to field a side with too much quality for a Huddersfield team who have failed to score in their last six home PL games,” Owen told BetVictor.
“Daniel Sturridge has scored four times in his nine appearances so far this season and, with the Reds in Champions League action midweek, it would be no surprise to see the former England international get a start against the Terriers.”
Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the Premier League table to ensure their continued participation in the Champions League after reaching the final back in May.
The Merseyside outfit’s exhilarating run to the Champions League final ended in disappointment when Liverpool FC lost 3-1 to Real Madrid in the showpiece in Kiev back in May.
Liverpool FC beat Huddersfield home and away last season to make light work of Wagner’s side.
However, the Terries have the superior record in this fixture, having won 31 of their 78 meetings, while Liverpool FC have only come out on top on 29 occasions.
Klopp’s side have already beaten West Ham United, Crystal Palace, Brighton and Hove Albion, Leicester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton in the current campaign.
