Mark Lawrenson is confident Arsenal will beat Huddersfield Town if the Gunners are at their creative best on Saturday afternoon.

The north London side lost 3-1 to defending Premier League champions Manchester City at The Etihad last weekend to lose ground on Chelsea FC and Manchester United.

The Gunners have been in mixed form in the Premier League following an impressive 2-0 home win against Chelsea FC before a disappointing 3-1 loss to Manchester United in the FA Cup.

Arsenal are in danger of falling away in the race to secure the final top four spot and a place in next season’s Champions League.

Unai Emery’s side have the opportunity to move level on points with fourth-placed Chelsea FC if Arsenal beat Huddersfield before Maurizio Sarri’s men take on Manchester City on Sunday.

Former Liverpool FC defender Lawrenson is backing Arsenal to ease to a 2-0 win against Huddersfield at John Smith’s Stadium this weekend.

“Defensively, the Gunners are just not very good and I’ve been a bit puzzled by some of Unai Emery’s decisions,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.

“Last week, in their defeat at Manchester City, Emery played with two left-backs – Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac – in his side, but Bernardo Silva still toasted the two of them down that flank.

“I just think Emery is really struggling to find a solution to his defensive problem, especially with his side’s injury issues – although Shkodran Mustafi should be fit after limping off against City.

“Surely Emery must look at the situation and think his side’s best form of defence is attack, especially for this game. If they can find a way of creating a lot of chances, they will win.”

Arsenal have missed out on a top-four finish in their last two Premier League seasons.

Emery took over the reins from Arsene Wenger in the summer after the Gunners limped to a sixth-placed finish.

Arsenal signed FC Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez on loan in the January transfer window to bolster Emery’s midfield options for the remainder of the season.
