Michael Owen states his prediction for Huddersfield v Arsenal
The Liverpool FC legend is backing Arsenal to get back to winning ways against Huddersfield Town on Saturday evening
Michael Owen is backing Arsenal to return to winning ways against Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon.
The Gunners lost 3-1 to defending champions Manchester City last weekend to lose ground on their top-four rivals.
Arsenal dropped out of the top four and are in sixth place behind Chelsea FC and Manchester United in the race to secure a Champions League spot.
Unai Emery’s side have the chance to move level on points with Chelsea FC on Saturday before Maurizio Sarri’s side take on Manchester City a day later.
Arsenal will be eager to keep pace with Manchester United, who will take on Fulham on Saturday’s early kick-off at lunchtime.
The Gunners were 1-0 winners against Huddersfield thanks to Lucas Torreira’s second-half winner back in December.
Former Liverpool FC striker Owen is confident that Arsenal will win by a two-goal margin against Huddersfield on Saturday.
“Huddersfield have failed to score in their last five games in all competitions and they are preparing for life in the Championship given they sit marooned at the foot of the Premier League,” Owen told BetVictor.
“Since the start of 2018 only two sides Brighton (14) and Huddersfield (13) have lost more PL games on the road than the Gunners (12) and that is simply not good enough for a club of their stature.
“Unai Emery’s team do have quality going forward, but you wouldn’t know what their back four is going to be from week-to-week with a number of his defenders, seemingly, becoming increasingly injury prone.
“That said, I would be surprised if the Gunners didn’t return to winning ways at the John Smith’s Stadium.”
Arsenal have beaten Huddersfield 1-0 in their last two meetings in the Premier League.
The Gunners were 5-0 winners against David Wagner’s side following Huddersfield’s long-awaited return to the top flight.
Emery’s side are in sixth place and three points behind Chelsea FC in the race to secure a top-four spot.
Chelsea FC have a superior goal difference so Arsenal would need to beat Huddersfield by three or four goals and hope Manchester City comprehensively thrash Sarri’s men.
