Hull City 1 Newcastle 4: Steve Bruce insists that his side have accepted Alan Pardew's apology after 'headbutt'
Steve Bruce insisted that Hull City have accepted Alan Pardew’s apology after the Newcastle manager was sent off for headbutting Hull’s David Meyler during a comfortable victory for the Magpies.
Pardew clashed with Meyler after the midfielder collided with him as he attempted to retrieve the ball to take a throw-in.
“We accept Alan Pardew’s apology,” said Bruce. “He has been big enough and brave enough to come out and apologise which is that you would expect.
In the heat of the moment things happen but Alan has apologised
“In the heat of the moment things happen but Alan has apologised.
“I can only be complimentary to David Meyler because of the way he reacted to it. He could have rolled around on the floor but he didn’t.
“I do believe he has apologised and for that we will take it.
“I am sure Alan will regret an unsavoury incident that I have not seen the like of before. It has obviously tarnished an afternoon for them and Newcastle’s supporters.”
Two goals from Moussa Sissoko, and strikes from Loic Remy and Vurnon Anita secured a comfortable victory for Newcastle to keep them in eighth place in the table, with Curtis Davies scoring Hull’s only goal just after half-time.
