Hull City 2 West Brom 0: Steve Bruce thrilled by ‘huge’ win
Hull City 2 West Brom 0: Steve Bruce reflects on a "huge" victory for his side as they beat the Baggies
Steve Bruce reflected on a “huge” win for Hull City after watching his side beat West Bromwich Albion and boost their Premier League survival hopes.
Liam Rosenior gave City the lead with a header in the 31st minute after Shane Long’s penalty was saved by Ben Foster.
And Republic of Ireland striker Long then added the second from Curtis Davies’ pass in the 38th minute.
It’s huge at this time of the season when you’re down to single figures in terms of games
The victory hoisted Hull up to 12th place in the Premier League table – eight points above the bottom three.
“It’s huge at this time of the season when you’re down to single figures in terms of games, and playing a team in and around you,” Bruce told BBC Sport.
“The one thing we’ve done this season, apart from against Crystal Palace and Norwich, is overall we have managed to take points off the teams that will be around us.
“We didn’t play well but we did enough with our resilience and attitude to get a result that’s very important at this stage.
“I always said that we need 10 wins and you get enough draws to see you home.
“If we can get another to get to 36 and a couple of draws to 38 points it will keep you up this year because it’s difficult for the teams below to win seven games.”
