Indian Wells 2013: Victoria Azarenka talks up her ability to recover from losing positions after beating Kirsten Flipkens in three sets
Victoria Azarenka expressed her delight at being able to recover matches from losing positions after coming from behind to seal a 3-6 6-3 6-0 win against Kirsten Flipkens to reach the fourth round at Indian Wells.
The world number two bounced back from a slow start in the third-round tie to break her Belgian opponent six times in the final two sets and secure her passage into the last 32.
Azarenka wrapped up the victory in one hour and 46 minutes, and the Belarusian admitted she took time to adjust to Flipken’s style of play.
“She really played well. I have to give her credit,” said Azarenka.
“She came out firing, playing so freely and going for every possible shot there was. So I just didn’t adjust well.
“I didn’t take my chances, and I was too blurry in what I had to do. I’m really happy that I find the ability to turn around my matches no matter what the circumstances are on the court.
“So that’s definitely what is exciting me the most.”
Azarenka, 23, will face Urszula Radwanska in the next round for a place in the quarter-finals.
