Rafael Benítez insists he has enjoyed the challenge of managing Chelsea after his interim reign came to an end on Saturday night.

The Blues boss saw his side suffer a 5-3 loss to Manchester City on the final game of their end-of-season tour which finished in New York.

Benítez, who has been heavily linked with vacant Napoli position, led Chelsea to a third-place finish and their first-ever Europa League crown after replacing Roberto Di Matteo in November.

And the 50-year-old is “really pleased” with his stint at the Chelsea helm.

“I think it was a good challenge and I enjoyed it at the end,” said Benítez.

“We won a trophy, (we reached) some semi-finals, a final (and finished in the) top three so I am really pleased because a lot of people at the start, people around players, they were pushing and pushing.

“I am really pleased for everyone.”

Benítez, who has previously managed Inter Milan, Liverpool and Valencia, says he wants to take charge of a club in the Champions League.

“I am going to London now,” he added.

“I want to be in a top side so that we can play in the Champions League, if that is possible.”
