‘Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere will become one of the country’s best ever’
Arsenal legend Liam Brady is convinced that midfielder Jack Wilshere is on his way to emulating the country's best-ever players

Liam Brady believes Jack Wilshere is on course to become one of England’s greatest-ever players, saying that the Arsenal midfielder is already “leading” the Gunners with his impressive displays.
Wilshere has been one of Arsenal’s standout performers in recent months after making a successful return from the lengthy spell on the sidelines that forced him to sit out the whole of last season.
Brady, who is Arsenal’s head of youth development and academy director, believes the 21-year-old can emulate the likes of Paul Gascoigne and Wayne Rooney in years to come.
And the 56-year-old Gunners legend admitted his relief at seeing Wilshere, who signed a new Arsenal contract last month, shake off his injury woes in such convincing fashion.
“He’s one of the best England players around,” Brady told talkSPORT.
“He will play an enormous amount of games for his country. Everyone was nervous about his comeback but he has improved every game, and against Liverpool he was outstanding.
“He’ll be up there with the most skilful players England have ever had. People like Glenn Hoddle, Paul Gascoigne and Wayne Rooney. Jack Wilshere will be in with those sort of players.
“He’s a leader. When you watch Arsenal, they give him the ball to make things happen. He’s leading the team now.”
