Jack Wilshere is confident that Arsene Wenger will soon put pen to paper on a new Arsenal contract.

The 64-year-old Frenchman is out of contract this summer but is widely expected to commit his short-term future to the north London club after leading them to FA Cup glory this season.

And Gunners midfielder Wilshere insists that he is unconcerned by Wenger’s apparent delay in putting pen to paper.

I know the boss loves the club and he’s given everything to the club

When asked by Sky Sports News if the delay a worrying sign, Wilshere said: “I don’t think it is. I’m sure the club have got it in hand.

“I know the boss loves the club and he’s given everything to the club, so I’m sure it will be resolved soon.”

Wilshere, 22, also insisted that he is feeling in good shape ahead of this summer’s World Cup in Brazil.

“I’ve been training for a long time,” Wilshere added. “I’m yet to play a game, but I’ve been training for a long time now – six weeks.

“I maybe need a few games, but I’m feeling good. Hopefully I can get some games under my belt before the big kickoff.”
