Harry Redknapp has replaced Mark Hughes as Queens Park Rangers manager after signing a two-and-a-half year deal at Loftus Road.

The 65-year-old will watch the Hoops take on Manchester United on Saturday, with the west London club lying bottom of the table and without a victory in the Premier League.

Here is some of the best reaction from the professionals and fans on Twitter.

Former Leicester midfielder Robbie Savage ‏(@RobbieSavage8) wonders when QPR first contacted Redknapp: “So when did Harry get the call from QPR ???????”

Ex-Newcastle United defender Warren Barton ‏(@warrenbarton2) wishes Redknapp all the best: “Good luck Harry at QPR …!”

England legend Gary Lineker ‏(@GaryLineker) jokingly worries for Ukrainian football: “Harry Redknapp is appointed manager of QPR. Enjoyed his company in recent weeks and wish him well. #HarryHoudini Big question now of course, with Harry’s appointment, is where does this leave Ukranian football?”

Marseille midfielder Joey Barton (‏@Joey7Barton) wishes his parent club all the best: “Good luck to Harry an all at QPR. Big battle ahead.”

Former QPR manager Jim Magilton ‏(@magilton7) reckons the Hoops may need Barton back: “@Joey7Barton might need you now…..Doesn’t take Harry long! The king is dead-long live the king! Kick start r season? The seat is still warm!!”

Ex-Chelsea midfielder Jody Morris (‏@morriskid) is already looking forward to January’s deadline day: “No matter what your opinion of Harry..you have got to be happy that come deadline day he will be in the Range Rover talking to @SkySportsNews haha!”

Stoke striker Michael Owen (‏@themichaelowen) reckons Redknapp will keep QPR up: “It’s a certainty Harry Redknapp will wave his magic wand at QPR and get them out of trouble. They’ll do well to avoid a beating today though!”

The fans’ take

QPR Stats ‏(@QPR_Stats) is impressed by the new manager’s record already: “Harry Redknapp unbeaten run at #QPR continues. Two hours and counting.”

Michael Daly (‏@mikedaly10) agrees with Owen: “I have a feeling Harry Redknapp will save QPR, finish mid table and will next year challenge for Champions League.”

Phil Anderson (‏@philando89) sees right through the Ukraine rumours: “Harry Redknapp had no intention of going to Ukraine, well played. Made QPR act very quickly!”

Finally, Wade Muthasamy (‏@WadeMuthasamy) fears for the Redknapp factor at Old Trafford: “Hopefully Harry Redknapp will have a disappointing beginning to his coaching spell at QPR after playing #MUFC”
