Alan Pardew hopes Jose Enrique will stay at Newcastle
Newcastle boss hopes to convince Spanish full-back to put pen to paper on a new deal at St James' Park

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew is optimistic Jose Enrique will remain at the club despite being linked with a summer exit.
Pardew admitted there is a chance the 25-year-old will leave St James’ Park before the end of the current transfer window, but he believes the Magpies can still convince Enrique to extend his stay.
The Spanish full-back has one year left on his contract and has been linked with a move away from Newcastle, who are keen not to lose him for free next year.
“I’m still hopeful that Enrique – who was a big, big, big, big player for us last year – stays at the football club and we can entice him to stay, and obviously we are still working on that,” Pardew told BBC Radio Newcastle.
“Jose’s holidaying and doesn’t have too much on at the moment, so we are not confident we can keep him, but we are not scared of losing him. It’s somewhere in between, really.”
Pardew added: “When you have only got a year left on a player of his ability, of course you are vulnerable, and I think it’s nervous times for us on him.”
