Jose Mourinho is refusing to look further ahead than Chelsea’s Premier League clash against Everton on Saturday, despite his side’s position at the top of the table.

The Blues are currently a point ahead of second-placed Arsenal heading into their clash against the Toffees, with Manchester City two points behind but boasting a game in hand.

It will be a good weekend for us if we beat Everton

And Mourinho, who has previously insisted that his side are not the favourites to win the title this season, said that he is not thinking about anything else but the visit of the Merseyside outfit on Saturday.

“You can look at the table and see that we are top of the league but we can be second if Man City win the match in hand,” said Mourinho.

“If we win tomorrow, we keep the same position top of the league depending on the Man City result. Of course we are going to try to do that – it will be a good weekend for us if we beat Everton. To lose points at home is never good.

“[But] the view is the same and the view is that we can win the next match – a very difficult match of course.”
