Jose Mourinho insists he is not worried by Chelsea’s worst start to a Premier League campaign in over a decade.

The Blues slumped to a surprise 1-0 loss to Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday night after settling for a goalless draw at Manchester United in their previous top-flight fixture.

It means Mourinho’s men have only picked up seven points from a possible 12, which amounts to their worst start to a season since Russian businessman Roman Abramovich bought the club in 2003.

Chelsea are back in action against Basel in their opening Champions League group-stage match on Wednesday night, and Mourinho bristled when questioned about the club’s opening set of results.

“I’m not worried. You look more worried than me,” Mourinho said to a journalist at his pre-match news conference.

“You say the same thing twice in 10 minutes. You think I don’t understand? You think I don’t know that before you?”

When asked about the importance of getting back to winning ways after the Everton loss and the Old Trafford stalemate, Mourinho added: “It’s the Champions League. We start tomorrow on zero matches and zero points.”

The Portuguese coach, who signed a four-year deal in June, refused to confirm whether Samuel Eto’o or Juan Mata would feature against Basel at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

But the Blues boss did reveal Frank Lampard and Oscar will start the Champions League tie, whilst the 50-year-old added he has a full quota of players to choose from.

“No injuries. No injuries at all,” he added. “Everybody is fit.

“I just spoke with a couple of players individually about tomorrow. Frank Lampard and Oscar start. The others will find out tonight at dinner time.”
