Jose Mourinho admits he is looking forward to working with the likes of Eden Hazard at Chelsea after signing a four-year deal to become Blues boss for the second time.

Mourinho, who led the west Londoners to six trophies during his first stint in charge between 2004 and 2007, was officially confirmed as Rafael Benítez’s successor on Monday following months of speculation linking him with the post.

And the 50-year-old says he is relishing the opportunity to work with some of the Blues’ promising stars – including Hazard (22), Oscar (21) and David Luiz (26) – during the peaks of their careers.

“The profile of the younger players with long-term space for improvement and development, I like very much that kind of profile,” Mourinho told Chelsea TV.

“I’ve come with a four-year contract so with the age of Eden Hazard, Oscar, David Luiz and these boys, I think it will be good for me to work with them and good for them to work with me.

“Together we can improve and make a better team than we have now.”

Mourinho will come up against old foe Pep Guardiola when the Blues take on Bayern Munich in the Uefa Super Cup at the Eden Arena in Prague on 30 August.

But the former Real Madrid boss played down the significance of the managerial match-up between the pair, who faced off numerous times during their spells in charge of Barcelona and Los Blancos.

“It’s not Mourinho and Pep Guardiola, it’s Chelsea and Bayern Munich,” he said.

“Mourinho did nothing to play this match, and Guardiola did nothing to play this match. The players did it, and the previous managers did it, so I will be in that match just by trying to help my club and my players win the trophy, nothing else.”
