Jose Mourinho: This is the kind of player I want to sign for Man United

Jose Mourinho has insisted that he is only interested about signing players who are “dreaming” of joining Manchester United.

There is bound to be plenty of fresh speculation over the coming weeks and months about who Mourinho could look to sign in the summer transfer window.

Mourinho is likely to want to bring in reinforcements at Old Trafford to bolster his squad as he prepares for his second season in charge at the club.

However, the Portuguese coach has stressed the point that he will only be on the lookout for players who have a strong desire to sign for a club like Manchester United.

Speaking at a news conference at Carrington on Friday afternoon, Mourinho said: “If the first thing you think is where are you going to live, well, think Los Angeles.

“[LA] Galaxy would be the first choice and then think about going to the beach every day. There are beautiful places to live and to play.

“We want people that, if I call some guy or if Mr Woodward calls some player or some agent, we want people that are immediately engaged and dreaming about coming.

“This is the profile of the players we want. If they don’t want to come to us, good luck, enjoy your other club.”

Mourinho has been tasked with steering Manchester United into next season’s Champions League as they chase a top-four finish in the Premier League this season.

Manchester United are also chasing glory in the Europa League, with the Red Devils set to take on Anderlecht in the quarter-finals later this month.
