Juan Mata admits he is desperate to win his second European title in two seasons with Chelsea ahead of Wednesday’s Europa League final against Benfica.

The Blues take on the Portuguese side in Amsterdam a year on from their memorable Champions League final triumph over Bayern Munich.

And Mata is relishing the chance to win a second continental crown with the Blues since arriving at the club from Valencia in the summer of 2011.

“This is the second time in my two seasons at Chelsea we will play for a European trophy, the Europa League in this case,” Mata wrote on his blog on grada360.com.

“I’m already living the atmosphere of this Wednesday’s match, trying to organise trips for my family and friends, allocating the tickets.

“It’s always like that before this kind of games, and I hope to live this bustle many more times in the future.”

But Mata, who has scored 10 Premier League goals for the Blues this season, is braced to a tough clash against Benfica.

“[Benfica are an] historic team in Europe that will be very tough to beat, as we saw last season in the Champions League,” he continued.

“It’s true that some of the players have changed, but the core is the same. They are a very competitive side. David Luiz told me that their manager likes to work and analyse every detail before a match, so it will be even harder.

“I hope it’s a good game and we can celebrate with our fans a new trophy for the club. It would be amazing to win two European titles in two consecutive years.”
