Juan Mata's future has been a source of speculation in recent weeks

Juan Mata has pledged his future to Chelsea, insisting he is happy at Stamford Bridge as the Spaniard moves to end the speculation over his future.

The 25-year-old’s situation in west London has been a source of uncertainty since Jose Mourinho’s return to the club earlier this summer, amid reports the Portuguese coach feels Mata does not fit into his plans.

Mata was linked with a number of clubs as the transfer window reached its climax, including Premier League sides Arsenal and Liverpool, as well as La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid.

But the playmaker, who has won Chelsea’s player of the season award for the last two years following his arrival at the club from Valencia in August 2011, insists he is very happy with the Blues.

“I think it’s normal in every transfer window that there are lots of rumours but I’m happy here,” Mata, who has only started one game under Mourinho, told Chelsea TV.

“It’s been a very, very good two seasons for me here, maybe the best of my career, and what I want this season is the same.

“I’m looking forward to achieving as many trophies as we did the last two seasons and hopefully this is going to be a good season for us again.”

Mata’s comments come after Mourinho last week insisted that he has no issues with the Spain international.

“Everything is clear between me and the player,” Mourinho said.

“We have no problems. I think he’s a very important player for us. He wants to be a very important player for us. He wants to stay, I want him to say, the club want him to stay. So there is no story.”

Mata has scored 32 goals in 119 appearances for Chelsea since his switch from Valencia in 2011.
