Juan Mata is everything I expected, beams Man United boss David Moyes

David Moyes has heaped further praise on Juan Mata following the Spaniard’s arrival at Manchester United in a club-record deal.

The Red Devils splashed out £37.1m to sign the playmaker from Chelsea last weekend and the 25-year-old impressed on his Old Trafford debut against Cardiff City in midweek.

And the United boss has been thrilled by what he has seen from Mata thus far, although he has warned fans not to expect too much too soon.

“He’s everything I thought he was,” Moyes said. “He’s a terrific footballer and he’s been a really good lad to work with. He’s settled in very well, very quickly.

“He played well in the game, which was important because we needed somebody who could come into the team and make a difference straight away.

“He knows the Premier League. But it’s never that easy. I’m slightly wary that we need to give him time to settle in and not expect too much too soon. I was certainly pleased with his first game.”
