Liverpool lost 1-0 to Chelsea in their International Champions Cup opener at the Rose Bowl on Wednesday after England defender Gary Cahill netted a 10th-minute winner.
However, the pre-season game wasn’t without incident after the Estonia international was on the receiving end of a nasty challenge from Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas.
The Spain international was quick to apologise to the Liverpool summer signing following the incident in person and on social media.
Speaking at his pre-match media conference at the Levi Stadium on Friday evening in San Jose, Klopp gave a positive update on the 30-year-old versatile defender.
Asked if Klavan was ok, Klopp replied: “Yes [he’s ok].”
Klavan was Liverpool’s fifth signing of the summer after the Estonia captain moved to the Reds from Augsburg in a £5m deal earlier this month.
