Kieran Gibbs hails Arsenal unity as Gunners go fourth

Kieran Gibbs has praised Arsenal’s “togetherness” after the Gunners moved back into fourth place with victory over Wigan on Tuesday.
A brace from Lukas Podolski and goals from Theo Walcott and Aaron Ramsey wrapped up a 4-1 over the Latics, who were relegated to the Championship as a result of the defeat.
A win for Arsenal at Newcastle United on Sunday will secure Champions League qualification for Arsene Wenger’s men.
And 23-year-old defender Gibbs believes the Gunners deserve credit for sticking together during a testing campaign.
“The way the squad has stuck together this season and never given up is credit to them and I believe we deserve nothing more than to be where we want to be,” Gibbs told Arsenal Player.
“The fact it has gone down to the wire again shows just how competitive this league is. In January people we were saying we were not supposed to be [in the top four].
“It is a test we have passed this season and that is credit to the players because it is not easy, especially for those who have come in. It must have been a shock to their systems but they have shown what characters they are.”
