Pundit uses Eden Hazard to make point about Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez
Dietmar Hamann says the jury is still out on Alexis Sanchez and his influence at Arsenal
Dietmar Hamann has claimed that the “jury is still out” on Alexis Sanchez and says he is yet to prove himself to be as influential as Eden Hazard.
Sanchez is widely regarded as one of the Premier League’s top attacking players and has been a regular fixture in the Arsenal team since his arrival in England from Barcelona back in the summer of 2014.
However, Arsenal have failed to challenge for the Premier League title since Sanchez’s arrival at the club and the north London side missed out on a top-four finish this season as they were consigned to Europa League football for next season.
Hazard, meanwhile, has been celebrating winning his second Premier League title with Chelsea after helping Antonio Conte’s men lift the trophy last weekend.
And former Liverpool midfielder Hamann reckons that Sanchez is yet to prove himself as a game-changer like Hazard has.
Hamann wrote in his blog for Paddy Power: “Alexis Sanchez has done well this season, but I’d like to see him at a top, top side now.
“When his contract talks broke down, I didn’t like how his attitude changed and that’s why he wouldn’t be in my team of the season.
“I’ve not seen him in a Champions League final because Arsenal get knocked out every time they play the last 16.
“If you compare him to what Hazard does, the jury’s still out for me. He’s a good player, but, is Sanchez world class? I’m not too sure.”
