Mesut Ozil sends direct message to Arsenal fans about his future

Mesut Ozil has told Arsenal fans that he “definitely” wants to stay at the north London club beyond the summer transfer window.

Like Alexis Sanchez, Ozil’s future at the north London club has been a subject of speculation in recent weeks because he has entered into the final 12 months of his contract.

Ozil is widely regarded as one of the Premier League’s finest attacking players and most Arsenal fans would be very keen for him to stay at the club beyond the summer.

And the 28-year-old has now given his clearest indication yet that he is planning to sign a new contract with the Gunners.

Speaking to the media during the launch of Arsenal’s new third kit in Sydney on Wednesday morning, Ozil said: “It is definitely my preference to stay.

“It is such a great club and I have always said that I feel very good at Arsenal. Once everyone is back in London we will sit down and discuss about the future.

“For now the most important thing is our pre-season and getting through the tour, training and getting fitness. When I’m back in London, we will sit down and discuss.”

Arsenal are preparing for a season without Champions League football next season after the Gunners ended up fifth in the Premier League table last term.

However, Arsene Wenger’s men did end the campaign on a high by beating Chelsea to win the FA Cup at Wembley back in May.
