Santi Cazorla has revealed that he is hoping to be sidelined for no more than another five months after the Arsenal midfielder’s injury nightmare.

The Spanish midfielder has been out of action since last year after suffering a string of injuries and requiring a number of operations to fix the problem.

Cazorla’s last appearance for Arsenal came back in October and the north London club are yet to set a date for the midfielder’s return.

However, the player himself has now indicated that he is hoping to be back in action sooner rather than later for the north London side.

Cazorla told Spanish radio station Cadena Ser: “I have not been told deadlines. It is very difficult to put exact dates, but I don’t think it will be more than five months.”

Arsenal ended what was a disappointing season on a high last weekend when they beat Chelsea 2-1 in the FA Cup final at Wembley.

The Gunners slumped to a disappointing fifth-placed finish in the Premier League and they will have to settle for Europa League football next season.
