Gabriele Marcotti explains why Arsenal won’t sign top 27-year-old striker
The ESPN reporter doesn't expect Arsenal to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Gabriele Marcotti has ruled out the possibility of Arsenal signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer.
The Gabon international is expected to leave Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window.
Arsenal have been previously linked with a move to sign the prolific 27-year-old centre-forward but a move has failed to materialise in the past.
Ligue 1 runners-up Paris Saint-Germain are also thought to be interested in signing the want-away Dortmund striker in the summer.
Speaking to ESPN FC about the possibility of Arsenal completed a big-money deal to sign Aubameyang, the Times reporter Marcotti said:
“I don’t think they’ll spend that sort of money and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is close to signing with PSG.”
Arsenal finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last season to miss out on a place in the Champions League next term.
The Gunners ended the season on a positive note despite a disappointing league position after a 2-1 win against Premier League champions Chelsea in the FA Cup final.
Arsenal are facing a battle to keep their star attacker Alexis Sanchez beyond the summer.
