Antonio Conte sends message to Chelsea fans about his future
The Chelsea manager has opened up about his plans at the Premier League table
Antonio Conte has spoken of his desire to stay at Chelsea for a long time and build something special at Stamford Bridge.
The former Juventus head coach was appointed as Jose Mourinho’s permanent successor at the end of the 2015-16 season after Chelsea finished in tenth place in the Premier League table last term.
Conte signed five players in the 2016 summer transfer window as Marcos Alonso, N’Golo Kante and David Luiz became key members of Chelsea’s title-winning campaign.
The 47-year-old can win the FA Cup for the first time on Saturday evening if Premier League champions Chelsea beat bitter rivals Arsenal in the FA Cup final at Wembley.
Speaking to Sky Sports about his long-term plans at Chelsea, Conte discussed his desire to build a dynasty beyond the two years remaining on his current contract.
“The best solution for a coach is to stay at a club for a long time and build something important,” Conte said.
“I have two years [on my] contract with the club. Then if they give me the possibility to stay, I’m available to do this.
“The club and I have the same idea for the future; to improve the squad and the team. We have to finish this season but we’ve started to work for next season.”
Chelsea finished seven points clear of second-placed Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League table.
The west London side haven’t won the FA Cup since 2012.
