Chelsea ponder transfer bid for 25-year-old Fulham player – report
Chelsea are lining up a transfer bid to sign goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli from Fulham this summer, say reports
Chelsea are weighing up a transfer move to sign goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli from Fulham this summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mail is reporting that the Blues are interested in signing the 25-year-old shot-stopper after number two Asmir Begovic completed his move to Bournemouth last week.
The same story suggests that the west London side are now on the lookout for a goalkeeper to provide competition for Thibaut Courtois at Stamford Bridge ahead of Antonio Conte’s second season in charge at the club.
However, the article also questions whether Bettinelli would be willing to make the transfer across London knowing that his playing time would be likely to be very limited at Stamford Bridge, with Courtois the firm number one choice at the club.
The story does suggest that the money on offer to him could tempt him into the transfer, however.
Chelsea are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new players this summer as Antonio Conte prepares his team for a return to the Champions League next season.
