Chris Sutton urges striker to reject Chelsea transfer
The former Chelsea striker doesn't believe Moussa Dembele should move to Chelsea in the summer transfer window
Chris Sutton has urged Celtic striker Moussa Dembele to reject the chance to move to Chelsea this summer.
The France international was in impressive form throughout the 2016-17 season to help Celtic win the Scottish Premier League title without losing a top-flight game.
Dembele has scored 17 times in 29 appearances in the SPL during the current campaign to attract interest from some of the Premier League’s top clubs.
The 20-year-old has also netted three times in six games in the Champions League to prove his talent on Europe’s biggest stage.
Dembele has been linked with a switch to the Premier League champions in the summer transfer window as Antonio Conte looks to bolster his attacking options.
Liverpool have also been touted as a potential destination for Dembele should the French starlet opt to leave Parkhead in the summer transfer window.
Former Chelsea striker Sutton believes Dembele should remain at Celtic to further develop his game before considering a big-money summer move.
“I think Dembele would be wise to stay at Celtic to develop. I don’t think he’s the finished article all be it he has really turned up to the big games,” Sutton told BBC Radio Five Live.
“For Kieran Tierney (a top four side would be interested). Tierney would easily play in the Premier League. I think for Dembele’s development he’s better off staying there.
“With Tierney, I think they’re building something good at the moment so why not stay and give the Champions League a real crack?”
