Jamie Redknapp says Jose Mourinho needs to encourage his Manchester United players to take more risks next season.
The Red Devils appointed the Portuguese coach as their new manager at the end of the 2015-16 campaign after Louis van Gaal led Manchester United to a fifth-placed finish.
Manchester United have scored 51 goals in 34 games in the Premier League, which is less than Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool.
The 20-time English champions suffered a setback in their attempts to finish in the Premier League’s top four on Sunday afternoon following a 1-1 stalemate with Swansea City.
Manchester United are unbeaten in 25 games in the Premier League, which is a club record after back-to-back draws with Manchester City and Swansea.
Speaking to the Daily Mail about Manchester United’s problems under Mourinho after a mixed first season, Redknapp said:
“Manchester United must be on the most boring unbeaten run of all time. There has been very little joy watching them this season.
“United ground out a 0-0 with Manchester City but their draw at home to Swansea meant they could not capitalise on their rivals slipping up at Middlesbrough.
“Jose Mourinho has spent £145m but I cannot see a difference from Louis van Gaal’s stale style. Next season Mourinho must improve how United play and help his players lose their fear of taking risks.”

Manchester United won the EFL Cup back in February after Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored twice in a 3-2 win against Southampton at Wembley.
The Red Devils are in the Europa League semi-finals against La Liga outfit Celta Vigo.
