Sir Alex Ferguson opens up to Man United fans about Jose Mourinho
The Manchester United legend reveals he does talk to current boss Jose Mourinho
Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that he occasionally speaks to Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho.
The Red Devils appointed Mourinho as their new manager in May 2016 after Louis van Gaal led the 20-time English champions to a disappointing fifth-place finish last term.
Mourinho wasted no time spending around £150m on new transfers after the Manchester United boss brought in Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Paul Pogba.
Manchester United struggled to find consistency in the Premier League, slumping to a sixth-placed finish after Mourinho opted to prioritise the Europa League.
The Red Devils won the EFL Cup in February thanks to a 3-2 win against Southampton at Wembley to secure the Portuguese coach’s first piece of silverware at Old Trafford.
Manchester United can qualify for the Champions League if the Red Devils beat Ajax in the Europa League final on Wednesday night.
Speaking about Mourinho in an interview with Sky Sports, Ferguson revealed that he is in regular discussions with Manchester United boss.
“We do from time to time like I did with Louis van Gaal and David Moyes,” Ferguson said.
“The Manchester United directors were always very supportive of me. I hope that continues.”
