Manchester United are trying to tie up the “loose ends” of their deal to sign Romelu Lukaku from Everton, according to BBC reporter Simon Stone.
The Everton forward has been relentlessly linked with a move to Manchester United in recent days as Jose Mourinho looks to bolster his attacking options ahead of his second season in charge at Old Trafford.
There were widespread reports in the British media on Thursday suggesting that Manchester United were closing in on a deal to sign Lukaku, although there is yet to be any official confirmation from either club.
Manchester United are due to jet off to the United States to begin their pre-season tour on Sunday.
And BBC Sport journalist Stone has now delivered the latest update on Manchester United’s apparent bid to sign Lukaku from Everton.
Speaking on BBC Sport’s Football Gossip Live, Stone said: “I think basically Manchester United are just tying up what they would see as being the loose ends of a deal.
“Getting a full agreement from Everton, which clearly there is not at the moment, and then getting permission to send him for a medical which will probably happen in the United States.
“Manchester United go to the United States on Sunday at the start of their pre-season tour and I expect at some point Romelu Lukaku will join them.”
