Man United edge closer to £83m deal for defensive duo – reports
Benfica chief Luis Filipe Vieira has jetted into England to discuss a deal with Manchester United, according to reports
Manchester United have edged closer to signing Nelson Semedo and Victor Lindelof after Benfica chiefs jetted into England to discuss the duo’s sale, according to reports in Portugal.
Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, as quoted by the Daily Star, are reporting that Benfica chief Luis Filipe Vieira is en route to England to hold talks with Manchester United about Lindelof and Semedo.
Benfica centre-half Lindelof is a name that will be familiar with Manchester United supporters after the Red Devils were heavily linked with a move to sign the defender last summer.
However, Jose Mourinho signed Ivory Coast international Eric Bailly and a move for Lindelof failed to materialise.
Semedo netted one goal and made six assists in 31 appearances for the Portuguese champions to attract interest from Manchester United ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Daily Star article states that Manchester United could have to cough up in the region of £83m for the Benfica duo.
Manchester United won the Europa League crown thanks to a 2-0 win against Ajax last week.
