Antoine Griezmann’s latest interview will worry Man United fans
The Atletico Madrid striker is still hoping to win silverware with the Spanish side despite Man United transfer speculation
Antoine Griezmann has seemingly poured cold water on talk of a move to Manchester United after underlining his desire to win silverware with Atletico Madrid.
The France international was unable to fire los Rojiblancos to Champions League glory in the Spanish club’s final season at Vicente Calderon after a 4-2 loss to Real Madrid in the last four.
Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move to sign Griezmann in the summer transfer window, and a report in the Independent claimed that a deal could be concluded by the end of June.
However, Griezmann has appeared to contradict the latest transfer speculation surrounding his Atletico future after the France star underlined his desire to win silverware with the Spanish side.
Speaking to Atletico’s website, the 25-year-old striker didn’t appear to be thinking about a move to Old Trafford.
“It has been a great year and I hope I can get better and win trophies with this team,’ Griezmann told the Atletico Madrid website.
“I will do everything possible. We are very happy. We have reached our objective, we maybe wanted more, but it could not be.”
Manchester United secured their place in next season’s Champions League thanks to a 2-0 win against Eredivisie giants Ajax in the Europa League final at Stockholm on Wednesday night.
