Man United scrap plans to sign Antoine Griezmann and target 24-year-old striker – report
Manchester United want to sign a No9 instead of Antoine Griezmann in the summer transfer window, according to reports
Manchester United have discarded plans to sign Antoine Griezmann and want to sign a traditional number nine like Romelu Lukaku this summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Star is reporting that Manchester United have decided to end their interest in the France international following Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s season-ending knee injury.
The same article states that Manchester United no longer want a luxury number 10 but instead would prefer to target a more traditional No9 in the summer transfer window.
The story goes on to reveal that Lukaku has been on Manchester United’s radar over the past few months, adding that Jose Mourinho could rival former club Chelsea for the striker’s signature.
Lukaku scored 24 times in 37 games in the 2016-17 Premier League season to help Ronald Koeman’s side finish in seventh place in the table in the Dutch coach’s first term in charge of the Toffees.
The Belgium striker moved to Everton from Chelsea in the 2014 summer transfer window after failing to secure a regular first-team spot at Stamford Bridge.
