Guillem Balague reveals the truth behind Man United’s Antoine Griezmann link
The La Liga expert claims that Antoine Griezmann decided against a move to Manchester United
Guillem Balague has claimed that Antoine Griezmann has cooled his interest in a move to Manchester United in the summer.
The France international’s future has been a source of relentless speculation throughout the 2016-17 season after the Atletico Madrid striker produced some impressive performances in the European championship final.
Griezmann rated his chances of a move to Manchester United as “six out of ten” last month before the Atletico striker took to Twitter to urge his followers to ignore the transfer speculation.
The transfer saga took a surprise twist earlier this week when it was reported that Manchester United had ended their interest in Griezmann and had switch their focus to Everton striker Romelu Lukaku.
It was suggested that Manchester United’s change of heart could in fact be related to Griezmann deciding that he will stay Atletico despite the relentless speculation linking the striker with a move to Old Trafford.
Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ about the latest twist in the Griezmann transfer saga, La Liga expert Balague said:
“Firstly, Atletico Madrid are convinced Manchester United are willing to pay 100m euro buy out clause, which means they can take Griezmann and there is no need for negotiations.”
Balague added: “Nobody really knows what he means because it’s not down to the chairman if United come with 100m euros. But United have been cooling down their interest in the player and, it sounds to me, that is because the player has changed his mind about joining them and will stay at Atletico.
“In fact, reports from Onda Cero today suggest exactly that. Griezmann will stay at Atletico for at least one more season.”
