Cristiano Ronaldo sends message to Man United fans about David De Gea
The Manchester United legend plays down talk of David De Gea moving to Old Trafford in the summer transfer window
Cristiano Ronaldo has played down the chances of Real Madrid signing Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea.
The Spain international has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid in recent months after another impressive season in the Manchester United side.
De Gea has regularly been touted as a potential target for Real Madrid over the past three or four seasons since his emergence as a top goalkeeper.
In fact, De Gea was thought to be on the brink of a move to Real Madrid before a deal collapsed at the final hour on Spain’s deadline day in 2015.
Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane was reported to have pinpointed De Gea as the perfect replacement for Costa Rica goalkeeper Keylor Navas.
However, Manchester United legend Ronaldo has played down speculation linking De Gea with a move to the Red Devils in the summer.
“Keylor Navas is Real Madrid’s goalkeeper,” Ronaldo is quoted as saying by the Daily Express.
“De Gea is a very good keeper but he is at United. They talk about 50,000 footballers every year and they are always the same.
“Of the players they talk about, maybe one or two will arrive and that’s it.”
Manchester United won the Europa League thanks to a 2-0 win against Ajax to secure their place in next season’s Champions League.
