Rio Ferdinand: This is what Jose Mourinho will be telling potential Man United signings
The Manchester United legend says Jose Mourinho's sales pitch has changed after winning the Europa League
Rio Ferdinand has claimed that Manchester United will have a different pitch to potential summer signings after securing their spot in next season’s Champions League.
The Red Devils were 2-1 winners against Dutch giants Ajax in the Europa League final on Wednesday night to secure their place in Europe’s premier club competition next term.
Manchester United missed out on a top-four finish in Louis van Gaal’s last season in charge at Old Trafford and Jose Mourinho led the Red Devils to sixth spot this term.
However, Manchester United’s Europa League triumph means the three-time European Cup winners will avoid the qualifying round and go straight into the group-stage draw pot.
Naturally, Mourinho has been linked with a host of world-class players ahead of the summer transfer window.
Former Manchester United defender Ferdinand believes the Red Devils will be able to put together a more attractive proposal for potential recruits in the summer.
“It will be a completely different conversation in the transfer window,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.
“It is not trying to convince players about believing in the future and selling players a dream.
“Champions League is here next season so come here to have a chance of competing in that competition and competing for the Premier League.
“That’s what they’ll be selling to the players now.”
Manchester United signed four players in the summer transfer window last season.
