Insider claims Man United will target Chelsea star if top target moves to Stamford Bridge
Manchester United could turn to Nemanja Matic if Chelsea sign Tiemoue Bakayoko, according to reports
Manchester United will switch their focus to Nemanja Matic if Tiemoue Bakayoko decides to join Chelsea ahead of a move to Old Trafford, according to Graeme Bailey.
The self-proclaimed football insider took to Twitter to shed light on Bakayoko’s future at the Ligue 1 champions as the France international continues to be linked with a host of top clubs ahead of the 2017 summer transfer window.
Bakayoko was a key member of the Monaco team that beat Paris Saint-Germain to the Ligue 1 title and lost 4-2 to Italian giants Juventus in the Champions League semi-final last month.
Manchester United have been linked with a move to sign Bakayoko as Jose Mourinho looks to strengthen his options ahead of a return to the Champions League next term.
However, Bailey, who has written for Sky Sports and other British media outlets, has claimed that Chelsea will beat Manchester United to the signing of Bakayoko and the Red Devils could switch their focus to Matic.
Bailey wrote on Twitter: “Man United could turn to Nemanja Matic if Chelsea beat them to Tiemoue Bakayoko.”
He added: “Has to be noted on Tiemoue Bakayoko – some French sources believe Monaco may try and keep him if Mendy & Fabinho leave. I think he’ll go too.”
