Sir Alex Ferguson has backed Tottenham Hotspur to have a bright future under Mauricio Pochettino.

Spurs finished in second place in the Premier League table this season but seven points adrift of champions Chelsea.

The north London side finished with the best attacking record in the Premier League, while Spurs conceded the least amount of goals in the top flight.

Tottenham’s second-place finish represents progress after Pochettino led Spurs to third place in 2015-16 behind Leicester City and Arsenal.

Pochettino has some of the Premier League’s exciting players in their ranks, including Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane.

Speaking to Sky Sports about Tottenham’s potential under Pochettino, former Manchester United manager Ferguson said:

“They have a lot of youth in their team which bodes well for the future. I believe in that. I really do.

“I’ve believed in youth all my life. It looks to me like Tottenham have long termism. The future looks pretty good.”

Tottenham didn’t make it past the Champions League group stage this season after a disappointing home campaign at Wembley.

Spurs will be looking to win the Premier League title for the first time after their impressive season under Pochettino in 2016-17.

The Lilywhites will be hoping to make more signings to bolster their squad this summer.
