Laurent Koscielny challenges Arsenal to win in Marseille
Arsenal centre-half Laurent Koscielny wants the Gunners to make a winning start to their Champions League group stage
Laurent Koscielny has challenged Arsenal to make a winning start to their Champions League group-stage campaign at Marseille on Wednesday night.
The Gunners face French side l’OM in their first Group F fixture after the north London side were also drawn alongside Coppa Italia winners Napoli and Champions League runners-up Borussia Dortmund.
Arsene Wenger’s side suffered a second-round loss to eventual winners Bayern Munich last season as the Arsenal boss was forced to wait another season to win Europe’s premier club competition for the first time.
And France international Koscielny wants the Gunners to make the most of their European experience when they come up against 1993 winners Marseille at Stade Velodrome.
“If we can get a good result at Marseille it sets us up well, as we have two home matches after this,” Koscielny told Arsenal’s website.
“The most important thing in the Champions League is to start well. It will be hard to win at Marseille, but we have the quality to do it. We are experienced in the Champions League and are all looking forward to this challenge again.”
