Lazar Markovic: I watched every Liverpool game last season
Liverpool's fourth summer signing Lazar Markovic wants to continue his title-winning streak at the Reds
Lazar Markovic is determined to continue his title-winning streak after completing his £20m move to Liverpool from Benfica.
The 20-year-old has signed a long-term deal with last season’s Premier League runners-up and the Serbian winger becomes the Reds’s fourth signing of the summer.
I watched every game and they played absolutely superb. It is a shame they did not win the title – but I hope we will win it this season
Markovic won three top-flight titles at Partizan Belgrade before joining Benfica last summer, scoring five goals and making two assists to help his side win the Portuguese league.
And the new Liverpool forward is determined to help Brendan Rodgers’s side become Premier League champions after revealing that he watched every Reds game during a dramatic campaign last term.
“I went to Partizan and won the title. I went to Benfica and won the title. Now I have joined Liverpool and want to win the title, 100 per cent,” Markovic told Liverpool’s website.
He continued: “I watched every game and they played absolutely superb. It is a shame they did not win the title – but I hope we will win it this season.”
Markovic added that he spoke to Manchester City defender Matija Nastasić and Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic to find out how his fellow Serbians are finding the Premier League before his Anfield move.
“I spoke to them both a couple of days ago and they are very happy that I am here, and I am looking forward to playing against them.”
Quizzed on his most effective position, Markovic said: “I do not mind. The left side is preferable, but I will play wherever I am asked.”
