Ian Wright was furious about Ashley Maitland-Niles’ sending off as Arsenal lost 3-0 to Leicester City at King Power Stadium on Sunday.

The Gunners had the chance to put pressure on Chelsea FC ahead of the west London’s clash against their fellow top-four rivals Manchester United.

Maitland-Niles received his first yellow card in the eighth minute before the Arsenal youngster was issued with his marching orders after a tackle on James Maddison in the 28th minute.

Michael Oliver’s decision appeared somewhat harsh considering Maitland-Niles’ minimal contact on the England international as he looked to recover possession.

Former Arsenal striker Wright wasn’t happy with Maitland-Niles’ red card in the first half.

Wright wrote on Twitter: “Never a sending off !!! Didn’t touch him. 😡”

Youri Tielemans put Leicester into a slender lead in the 59th minute when the Belgian midfielder placed a finish past Bernd Leno after Maddison’s cross.

Jamie Vardy, who has now scored seven times against Arsenal in his Premier League career, doubled the home side’s advantage with four minutes left to play.

Leicester put the result beyond doubt before Vardy scored his second goal of the Premier League clash deep into added time at King Power Stadium.

Arsenal will have dust themselves down and prepare for their Eurpopa League semi-final against Valencia on Thursday night, which still represents an alternative route into the Champions League.
